One hundred and one Swaziland destinations- #8: Chakalaka

Chakalaka.

I intentionally left this dish out of the previous post about last week’s lavish going away lunch so that I could showcase it separately. Chakalaka is not itself a ‘destination,’ but no trip to Swaziland is complete without a bite or two. If you are a vegetarian, you can subsist on the stuff, perhaps with some pap for starch and variety.

If you spend a significant amount of time in Swaziland and do not find it on any menus, go to the nearest grocery and buy a can of beans and a can of 'chakalaka mix', mix the two, and suddenly you will have arrived at destination #8.

It will not be as chunky or flavorful as the version depicted above, but at least you will be able to check it off the list of 101 things not to be missed in Swaz.

Oh, as for the remaining 93 destinations, they will be posted as I come across ‘em.
